alberta, the slightly eccentric 50(or 60?)-something italian woman in my choir class, is trying desperately to get me to join her other choir. evidently she has been my one-woman cheering section to the choir director, because she keeps telling him how great i am, blah blah. he already is giving me a solo, so he knows i at least have some capability... but seriously, i'm no patsy cline or ella fitzgerald, and have no intention of making singing my life. i enjoy being in a kickback choir, and i enjoy the people in it (especially the cute bass! :)), but i also like the fact that it's only a one-day-a-week commitment. alberta is trying to get me to join jude's voci class out in orinda (evidently a much more advanced choir), and has even offered to give me a ride to practices and tickets to their next show so i can check them out. *sigh* i mean, i guess it's flattering and all, but i like the easy, fun choir i'm in now. as much as i enjoy jude as the director, as well, it's not something i really feel overwhelmingly committed to... or at least not so much that i want to devote more time to additional choirs. (besides, i think the voci class is on wednesdays, and i have soccer practice that day. priorities, man.)
it's official, i'm making the trip down to LA for the mls cup game. it looks like my friend anu is going to be able to get me an extra ticket to the ucla-usc game as well, so that'll work out nicely. it's going to be a big tailgate and sports weekend, with hopefully a pair of wins in the outlook! i'm not so hopeful about saturday, but sunday.....
my coworker kristen was showing us her pictures from her stint in the peace corps in ethopia... it's so destitute, of course, but it seems like such a fulfilling experience. i think maybe i should consider doing something like that. ronnie had an excellent time in ecuador when she went, and i would love the cross-cultural experience. it's sad, i'd be afraid to start it (because i'm so entrenched in my life in california), but i think i'd love it once i got there. i also think it'd be fun to be able to do environmental education (as opposed to teaching english). hmmmm....
