well, the surprise dinner went very well :) for those of you who weren't in the know, my parents' 30th anniversary was last monday. zoltán and i schemed to have a surprise dinner for them at 71 saint peter in downtown san jose, with three couples that are friends of my parents. it was a series of surprises, because my parents didn't know my brother was coming up, and they didn't know that there would be other people celebrating with them. it was a very nice dinner, and everyone at the table was very cool, so it went well. yay!
saturday i spent at planet granite with liz, marla, and the girly scouties... i learned how to belay, so now i can go climbing in the east bay with kristen, too. liz and i belayed for a few of the girls, and then were able to do some climbing on our own. liz was a superstar, but i was a sad little wimp who needs to seriously work on upper body strength! the other thing is that the next time, i need to have chalk... not only was i losing strength in my arms, but i was also losing my grip due to sweaty hands! ah well. at least now i know.
saturday night i went to apu's choir concert in sunnyvale, and then headed up to pacifica to see the evan hadley band (remember, the cute bass?). they're actually really good... i've never heard evan sing on his own, and he has a really great sound. the band does some pretty complex progressions, too, and it was definitely fun to listen to. they played for a good three hours, and he came back and hung out with me in between sets (although i *was* sitting at the bar...).
sunday was baking, reviewing proposals, watching the 9ers lose (again!), and the bay area bruins holiday party. the holiday party was pretty fun... a bunch of the people i usually hang out with at those events, plus some new cool people that i hadn't met. kirsten and i decided to play pingpong, which was not my best idea since i was wearing three-inch heels. doh! sore knee today. hopefully it's just temporary... dave and i also had a long discussion about lockheed and defense spending. very interesting. i like the fun social events with the BAB.
and today, it's proposal review pretty much all day (and tomorrow too!). busy busy.
