freakin' ralph nader, man. in light of his egomaniacal delusions of grandeur, he is yet again running for president. not only was he largely responsible for detracting from gore's campaign in 2000, but now he hopes to pull it off again in 2004. is the republican party paying him off? because seriously, the only group that will get hurt here (again) is the dems. sadly, kerry (the current frontrunner), is actually quite environmentally-minded. why can't nader learn the word "endorse"? ugh. now more than ever we need to be able to oust the insanity in the white house, and nader is trying to be a roadblock. what an ass.

in other political news, our lovely governator is likely to propose a constitutional amendment which would eventually allow him to run for president. now, i'm not exactly opposed to naturalized citizens being elected to office, even to that of the president (although there could be some potentially serious ramifications if power gets in the wrong hands), but i'm opposed to anything that will allow arnold schwarzenegger to (attempt to) run our country. again, ugh.

now that i've gotten past the bad, here's the good:
my ticket got dismissed! yay! i rather don't mind a day in court that ends up with that result.

went to see wit, a play about a woman dying of ovarian cancer, at stage 1 theater in newark. i went with alison and lisa, whose friend scott was one of the main characters. he was excellent, too. it's an interesting play... humorous as much as it can be in light of the terminality of the subject, and less so as the main character approaches death. "death be not proud," in the words of 16th century poet john donne, "[a]nd death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die." wit was made into a movie starring emma thompson a few years ago, but it's much more moving (i think) on stage, in a black box theater where you're focused primarily on the words and the emotions, rather than on the scenery.

saturday i went climbing with liz and marla... i climbed the same route all day, trying to reach the top of what really shouldn't have been that tough a climb. i couldn't do it, but hopefully will go back before they reroute so i can try again.

saturday night was q's, which turned out to be sort of a bust. judy and i had fun, but everyone else bailed. i can't stand it when people flake on plans. if you have a valid reason, i understand... but if you're just being lazy, it's inconsiderate and distasteful. i don't know how judy felt, but if i was the planner i would be somewhat offended at the turnout. *sigh*
