i only have a few minutes before i need/want to get out of here for the day, but wanted to update on a few things i did this weekend.

friday i took off (because i have to burn vacation time)... had dim sum with kat, celine, seth, joe, and celine's cousin mandy. ran some much-needed errands, then met up with some of the same group for dinner in north beach (plus judy and donna, minus seth) at steps of rome. yikes, authentic italian men... slightly overwhelming but the food was decent. then we headed up to ghirardelli for hot fudge sundaes, yummy! joe and kat dropped me off, and big props to fix-it man joe for making my phone jack functional again. yay! i have an answering machine again!

habitat restoration with save the bay and bay area bruins at the palo alto baylands, saturday morning. we had about 15 people come out to pull pepperweed and plant native gumplant, and our save the bay guide (denise) was fabulous. i have nothing but excellent things to say about save the bay, their staff, and their programs... they're very cool :)

soccer game with zephyr, a big fat loss (0-3) to a team that's really not better than us. we fell apart though, and i played badly. meh.

stanford lost!! i can't believe they lost in the second round, especially after the year they had! i had them going to final four in my pools, but i was pretty sure they were going to lose earlier. i wouldn't have guessed second round, though.

dinner at squat and gobble with the 'rents. mmmm crepes!

sunday, ucla scholarship paperscreening at the home of one of my committee members (beth), who was a most gracious and generous hostess. the screening took longer than i expected, but it went fairly smoothly and i think we'll do well next weekend. i need to call the prospective scholars tonight and schedule interviews.

kentucky lost! two number one seeds out of the tourney in the second round. okay, now i'm screwed in my pools too! no more laughing at the kids who picked stanford to win.... darn.

dinner at rock bottom brewery with judy (bay area judy, that is :)). yum! free calamari and a big raccoon red later, we headed over to the gaslighter theater to see my rival sun (judy's friend robert's band) play. they're actually pretty good! the lead singer, zach, definitely had a voice, and the band has a very cohesive sound. doesn't hurt that zach is nice to look at, too :) i got to hang with judy, robert, groupie anthony, zach, and some others afterwards, and they were all pretty cool. i'll probably try to hit up some more of their shows if i can. yay! new local bands to follow! :)
