state finals went well... my two scholars didn't do anything spectacular, but they had a good time. i got to see geoff saturday night, which was lovely. i miss that crew! josh childress of stanford fame was on my flight back (recruiting trip??)...

in sports news:
--the earthquakes lost to colorado, 0-1. i didn't see the game, so i can't really comment on it.
--zephyr lost 1-2, but we played damn hard, one man down. *sigh* one day we'll have subs.
--the sharks beat the avalanche 3-1 to go up 2-0 in the series, including a sweet between-the-legs goal from jonathan cheechoo.
--the 9ers picked up a slew of linemen, a punter, a QB (cody pickett from washington), and two wide receivers (rashaun woods from OK state, who will wear TO's number and make it his own... and derrick hamilton from clemson). a number of UCLA bruins went in the draft, too: matt ware to the eagles, dave ball to san diego, rodney leisle to the saints, and brandon chillar to the rams. man, the bruin d-line is going to hurt this year after losing all those guys...
--oh, and i saw john wooden yesterday. he was on campus for a book signing. yay coach wooden!
