i had an interesting day yesterday. i told my supervisors that i'm looking for another job... i'm not leaving just to leave nfwf, but rather because nfwf no longer provides me with any growth opportunities. both of them were supportive and understanding, and both will be sad to see me go but hope that i find what i'm looking for. i'm grateful to have had such a good response from both of them, and to feel that i am actually appreciated in my office even if nationally there's no recognition (or pay raise) for it. i also talked at length with one of my favorite recipients, and he spoke glowingly of me and offered to help in my search in any way he could. it's the first time that anyone (other than my own supervisors, who know i do a great job) has recognized my abilities and has been willing to assist and guide if he can. it was very touching. there's also possibility of a position opening up in his organization in the spring that would be fitting, but we'll see where i'm at by then. prbo folks also came in for their "annual meeting" yesterday, and they're such dynamic, amazing people that it's always great to see them and hear about their exploits.

on a not-so-good note, i talked to stan at the water district and he basically confirmed what i already knew-- that the water district is closed-minded about the qualifications for their positions, and automatically throws out any that don't fit exactly what they're looking for. as though i needed further confirmation of that fact, the rejection letter reached my house yesterday as well. oh well. i've had a couple of interviews, and they won't be the last, so we'll see how it goes. and then there's always the peace corps, which i'm now considering again...

liz would be proud... i've worked out every day this week! and will be going rock climbing with julia, et al tomorrow. yay! this sunday is alice's summerthing, a lovely free concert in the park, and father's day. other than that, i may need to hit up the quakes' viewing party at the brit in san jose. i love soccer season!!

i was milo-sitting this past week (milo is my landlady's cat), and he's beautiful and friendly and all... but damn, is that ever the neediest (and kneadiest) cat! i let him stay over a couple of nights because maureen was painting, and he was all over everything. i finally made sure the doors to the bedroom and bathroom were closed, but i had to clean cat-prints off my counter and table the next day. *sigh* can i have a dog? (oh speaking of which, paul and scott-- alison, lisa, and julia's friends-- have the most adorable whippet puppy! his name is simon. he was the cutest thing ever... yes, ever. heh. well, maybe besides golden retriever puppies. and heath ledger. dude, and wade barrett.)

oh also-- bill graham presents isn't selling tickets well this summer, so this sunday (and this sunday ONLY) they're offering lawn seats for all their summer shows at shoreline and chronicle pavilion for only $20/ticket. check it out here. i'm thinking about going to john mayer/maroon 5, josh groban, and barenaked ladies/alanis. let me know if you're interested in going to any of those with me.
