drama. i hate drama. did i mention i hate drama? man, i hate drama. can't we all just get along? :(

anyway, other than that, the weekend was mostly excellent. rockclimbing on friday with liz, marla, and og. all three of them are significantly better than i am, but i'm trying. i blow out way too easily, though. i feel like i'm stronger, but still not strong enough to do as much as i think i should be able to do. happy note- liz surprised me with my very own chalk bag. yay! that was so cool.

saturday i watched my quakes lose again... i actually thought they played a fairly strong match, considering the severely depleted ranks. what a difference a goose makes. i'm so glad to have him on the field. i'm afraid of what will happen when he retires and we don't have his leadership on the field. unfortunately, this was also one of those games where two factors changed the fate of the game: 1) the refs: took away a goal of ours that should have counted, and gave them a PK that was a total dive. this made the score 2-0 instead of 1-1, as it should have been. 2) the national team call-ups: while great for them to get an international cap, it meant that our three power scorers were gone. what does that mean? we couldn't score. exactly. *sigh*

after that, og, julia, and i watched the third installment of harry potter. i actually liked it better than the first two-- it was grittier, less insistent on being exactly from the book, and more real. the costumes were not the gaudy, fairy-tale-ish sort of the first two, the scenery was phenomenal and had to be a real place, etc. they gave dumbledore more of a sense of playful humor. i also like the teen angst (harry), the rebellious sassiness (hermione), and the slight cowardice (ron) that is becoming more evident. afterwards we went to chevy's for dinner, met up with heather2 and her roommates, and played some two-minute mysteries that i think frustrated the hell out of laura (h2's roomie). oh well.

then og and i dropped in on alison, lisa, and baby eleanor. i hadn't seen eleanor (or alison and lisa for that matter) since she was born, and that's 6 weeks ago already! it was good to see them, and meet the baby, and see how they're doing. they're such cool people, i hope things go well for all three of them.

sunday i went to see the producers with the 'rents. it was a fun show-- pretty over the top and silly, but immensely entertaining. we also went to dinner and dessert with friends of my parents, who are the cutest people ever. alan is this harvard grad from hawaii who can't swim (yes, you read that right) and grew up on classical music and refined tastes, and his wife barbara is this pixie-ish post-modern rock and roll political activist personality. they're both very mild-mannered and very pleasant to spend time with. i must be growing up, if i enjoy spending time with my parents and their friends! heh.
