sports galore

soccer practice starts today! woo hoo! i love soccer season, mine and the quakes'. i'm ready to get back on the field. in other soccer news, though, rumors are still afoot about club america and the earthquakes' potential buy-out and move to san antonio/houston. erk. if you can, go to the rally this friday to try to save my beloved team. i wish i could go but this is too busy a week for me to take the whole day off for a rally. although, who knows... i may utilize some sick time. anyone want to go to the rally?

for all the other sports nuts out there (am i the only one?!): on day 6, the U.S. currently leads the medal count at the olympics with 29 (10 gold, 10 silver, 9 bronze). paul hamm won the men's all-around gymnastics gold today, despite a bad fall on vault (something to watch for-- and then watch for his almost flawless parallel bar and high bar routines). the u.s. women's 4x200 free relay team won gold and broke the longest-standing world record on the books (set 17 years ago). the u.s. women's soccer team tied australia on tuesday to take a 2-0-1 record to the quarterfinals against japan. did i mention i like the olympics? :D
