what a busy week. whoever thought that taking time off in between jobs would be a restful idea, has another think coming. i guess it's different if you don't have to relocate, but the whole relocation process is tiring and stressful. i must have looked at 30 different places in and around palo alto, from the ghetto to the fabulous. this included stanford west, which is everything you could want in an apartment complex (but is way too pricey) to palm villa, which is old and cementy and desperate for good tenants (the guy called me and reduced the price for a 2-bedroom to $1025 in hopes that i would move in). i finally settled on a cute little complex in mountain view with all the amenities of a larger complex but with a small community feel. it's in a decent area and should hopefully be a good fit with a minimal commute. i'm going to borrow heather's truck tomorrow and get the move-in process started. (i'll email out my new address soon, but email me if you want it :) no stalkers please! :)).

so, the stanford job starts monday. eek! i actually found a few nice pairs of pants to get me started on this whole business casual thing, plus i stocked myself with a pair of classic black penny-loafer-type shoes. it's going to take some getting used to, having to switch from wearing jeans to work, but i'll get over it. i'm going to have to figure out the logistics for choir and soccer, though.

my cousin taylor is playing baseball in a league in hawaii this summer, if he doesn't get picked up by the bigs by then. awesome! not a bad way to spend a summer-- baseball and beaches (or big leagues!).

mass exodus from nfwf-- i left 2/4, liz left 2/11, kristen just got a new job at berkeley and is leaving 2/24, and i know of others who are in the process of looking. i feel bad for those who have to pick up the slack, since they're understaffed as it is. maybe this will motivate the head honchos to reevaluate their retention policies (or lack thereof) to mitigate for the good people they're losing.

heather and i celebrated our six months with a huge yummy dinner at la fondue :) i'd been there for dessert and cheese but this time we did the whole shebang. wow, lots of food... and it's so good that you have to keep eating! :) mmmmm cheese... did i mention how much i love cheese? :) anyway, it was a lovely night and i'm glad we got to share it with each other.

i'm not sure what else to report-- it's been so long since i posted that i'm sure there are cool things i'm missing. i'll hopefully be more verbose once i get settled into my new job and home. yay!
