i may get to go to florida this summer for a shuttle launch! heather's mom works for nasa, and she has been put in charge of one element of a large-scale launch project to take off in a few months. i think it's this mission but i'm not certain. that trip would be very cool, though-- shuttle launch, free condo, plus the beaches and fun stuff in the area. yay!

i ran across a project file today for a project funding paul ehrlich. so cool. that's one of the reasons i want to be the contract officer for the bio sciences departments-- so i get to see what cutting edge research is being done by one of the premier researchers in my field. (for those of you who are unfamiliar with paul ehrlich, he is an extremely accomplished and well-known conservation biologist and ecologist who also happens to be a professor at stanford and the president of the center for conservation biology.) whew, i guess i do get starstruck-- by academics! (yes, we all know i'm a dork.) i think i need to look at his course schedule and audit a class or two.

going to see goldenstate (the band formerly known as my rival sun) tonight at johnny v's in san jose (santa clara and second). there's no cover, so come on out if you can!

just heard from an old friend that i hadn't heard from in a long time (dax) and she is married! and living in portland. wow. how life changes.
