well, it pretty much looks like a done deal-- landon is going to return to MLS to be on the galaxy. what a sad day, considering he has made such a name for himself as an earthquake for the past four years. somehow i thought that he would actually stand up to the challenge of playing in europe now that he's older, but he probably misses his girlfriend and his family in california. since it is evident that the quakes did not expect him back, we no longer have the allocation available to reclaim him. as bryan pointed out, though, we are getting wade back, which makes me happier than the loss of landon makes me sad. the quakes are coming off a very promising preseason (including a carolina cup championship), so i'm ready for game one on saturday. yay!
ooh-- and the new jerseys are by adidas. this may be the year i actually suck it up and buy one. wade or troy? that's the dilemma.
so, heather's and my weekend trip up to bodega bay was excellent. it was a nice, relaxing little getaway. we stayed at a cottage-like hotel with a patio view of the bay, and enjoyed the fresh air and sunset from there. we went out to bodega head on saturday and watched the highway of grey whales going by, walked up the cliffs a little way, mostly just enjoyed the day and enjoyed being out there. we were supposed to go on a whale watching trip on sunday, but the weather was too choppy... so instead we drove up the coast a little and explored some of the little towns along the way. i really like small getaways like that-- not too much effort or distance, but it still feels like we got a mini-vacation in. i had also gotten a $100 visa debit card from rent.com, so that paid for all of our meals all weekend. yay for not having to pay! :)
i'm kitty-sitting again for the next two weeks, for heather's part-time cats, macgonagall and montana. they're very sweet. mac is almost as talkative as clio! they're easy enough to take care of, though, and it's fun to have animals in the house. they have their scratching post with them this time, so fortunately they won't use my green chairs in lieu. they actually came with a couple of toys too, but they're most content playing with balled-up pieces of paper. easily entertained, i guess! montana even took hers to bed with her last night. see? cute.
get better, bry!
