i'm such a soccer nut... i just ran into earthquakes' goalkeeper coach tim hanley on campus and was chatting him up about the game on saturday. he, of course, has no idea who i am out of the thousands of faces he sees every week, but i'm one well-meaning soccer fan who knows who he is. heh. if you recall, i hung out with tim after the 2003 win and discovered he was a cool guy then... i didn't realize he was the goalkeeper coach at SU as well. cool! but hey, it's fun to talk about your favorite team with someone who knows the team intimately, especially after an exciting win! and yes, i am once again proving that i am a certifiable nerd when it comes to soccer stuff.

in other soccer news, this just in: troy dayak, aka "the beast," defender #19 that i've been watching play since he was 17, will be retiring after the 2005 season. sad, i know, but earlier today he was named head coach of an indoor soccer expansion team based out of stockton. sad for earthquakes fans who love to watch him play, but a great post-retirement move for cowboy. congrats, troy!
