holy stress buckets! one would think that i wouldn't have a huge amount of responsibility at the end of the fiscal year, considering i don't manage the fiscal aspects of contracts... but one can always be surprised. the higher-ups are trying to do some massive clean-ups before the fiscal year ends, so that the messes don't carry over into the next year's audit. this is all well and good in theory, but hard to carry out in practice when we're all already overloaded. we didn't need a few more rush-rush projects. oh well, my life will hopefully get a little breezier after wednesday.
i had a pretty good weekend, too, considering most of it didn't go as planned. after an unexpected phone call on thursday, i wound up going to the niners-titans game on friday with vickie! it had been almost two years since i'd seen her, for no real good reason. the niners won, we had a good time, we learned a valuable lesson about pretzel purchases at the 'stick, and we agreed that we needed to hang out more often.
saturday was errand day... my poor sad car finally got cleaned, at the do-it-yourself carwash down the street from my house. it ended up taking $8 or so in quarters to do it, so maybe i should have just taken it to a carwash place instead. oh well, it was fun and quick. i should get the car detailed (inside) and get an electronic diagnostic done... anyone know where to get good deals on these?
saturday night was game night at spartan stadium, the last home showdown between my boys in blue and their southern rivals. the quakes were en fuego the entire night-- you could tell that they wanted the win more. there was hardly a weak play among them, with the possible exception of kelly gray's long balls. the valiant quakes won, 2-1, with a lovely header goal from defender danny califf. did i mention how much i love it when defenders score? :)
sunday i got to spend some time with kristin, jonathan, and their little man dylan. it's good to see them... i don't get to see them often enough, since they're down in san diego. they're thinking about coming back up to the bay, though, which would be sweet. i'm trying to hook jonathan up with one of my connections through the university... he's definitely got the background for more advanced marine science stuff than i do.
in other news, congratulations to jessica and george on their newest addition, nadia rose, born august 21. yay!
