i'm kitty-sitting! l&m are backpacking the lost coast this week (jealous i am), and i'm taking care of their very old kitty, clio. she mewled the whole way back to my apartment yesterday, and then she took a while to explore the nooks and crannies she could hide in. she ended up sleeping on my bed (which is weird when you're not used to having an animal around) and started mewing at me early this morning. i didn't sleep very well last night, but i'm not sure whether it was because of the kitty or not. who knows. at least she doesn't seem too disoriented.

went to see a very well-done play yesterday at the mountain view theater... it's called proof, and it's based on the relationships between a genius/nutcase mathematician and his daughters, and their relationship with each other. also thrown in the mix is a nerdy but sweet math grad student of the dad's. it was a surprisingly emotional perspective on the varied relationships, as well as the capability of a female in a typically non-female field. it is written and performed very cleverly, leaving you to question the motives and the sanity of all of the characters. the use of the father character was interlaced in a very adept way, even using flashbacks and memories. i believe it's getting critical acclaim on broadway these days, too... if you're into this sort of thing (plays, i mean), this one is well worth seeing.

tie game on saturday between my quakes and the kansas city wiz... neither team seemed to be playing with much passion, unfortunately. landon was back, but he didn't contribute too much. the young guys came in towards the end of the game, as well as brian ching fresh off injury, and they spiced it up a bit but not enough to score any goals. ahh well. a tie is better than a loss, but it's always nice to win. :) i miss jimmy, though... he was such a personality on the quakes and in the community (and plus, he's a bruin!), and it's sad to see him on another team in the middle of the country instead of in san jose where he really belongs. oh well.

got to see my lovely lady punky last thursday! she was in town for a week from her digs in boston (dorchester, actually, but close enough), and we putzed around the haight and the castro for a bit. she was looking for some runes for her boy (don't ask), and we just enjoyed the fun shops and people-watched and good things like that. she bought a very cute t-shirt (from a place called "rock hard" no less) with two m&m dudes all dressed in leather and whips and chains-- with the caption "s&ms". hee! she wanted me to get one too, but it was a bit too rich for my tastes for a t-shirt. besides, i still have quakes' gear i need to purchase.

oh, and setareh is in town! only until july 6, though. big bummer :( maybe i'll have to make a return trip to puerto rico. goodness knows i have the vacation time for it.
