as if i needed proof that herpers are big nerds... i got an ode in my email today from the PARC list about The Toad Before Christmas. i sent it out to a bunch of people, none of whom will get nearly as much enjoyment out of it as i did, but it's still entertaining. ahh, science geeks. we love our inside jokes, don't we.

anu has his surgery date set :( he'll be spending christmas in the comfort of his bed... i hope the painkillers don't keep him from eating christmas dinner! his pre-op is on my birthday, and surgery is on the following monday. i'll be on the high caribbean seas, so i can't even check to see how he's doing :( i hope it goes well, though. that means he'll be able to come kick my ass at basketball (not too hard under any circumstance) once his rehab is done... but not at soccer! :D

another thing i'd forgotten to blog about-- ucla is in the silicon valley bowl on dec. 30, vs fresno state. i unfortunately won't be able to make it, because i don't fly back into town until 9:30 that night, but hopefully this will be a bowl game we'll win! too bad randy and i don't talk anymore, because i would sure love to give him hell about a&m, coach fran, and their 4-8 season. our 6-6 season wasn't much better, but i did admit at the beginning of the season that i'd be happy with a 6-6 finish. not that you're ever truly happy with a .500 season, but that's not too terrible for a first-year head coach. onwards and upwards!
