happy monday... more climbing this weekend with liz and marla. liz and i still have to get our belay certifications, but hopefully next time we'll master the test. marla is a little monkey up those climbing walls! i didn't do so well, my upper body strength leaves a lot to be desired. my forearms and triceps sure got a workout, though, because they're sore! the three of us are going to try to climb once or twice a month (which some relevant workouts in between) so we can get better and hopefully go climbing outside when the weather gets better! liz's gym has a climbing treadmill, and she has developed some training exercises for us to try on it. i'm excited... although i may have turned liz into a rock-climbing gearhead now! that's okay for me though, as long as she has the equipment, i can borrow it ;) rentals at planet granite aren't bad, either... especially if we're only doing it every two-four weeks.
bay area bruins dominated my saturday... it was a fun meeting even if it was long. it's a good crew of people, and we always try to have a good time. i keep volunteering myself for stuff, which i probably should restrict, but oh well. i like BAB events, and networking is always a good thing. i have to finish up the planning for my habitat restoration event which should be happening in february. yikes! also on tap: sharks game in march, quakes game in may/june, a's game in june/july, and future community service events. i'm hoping to pass off organization of the service stuff to a new guy, but he may be leaving for wharton in the fall so we'll see how that goes. choir and soccer start up next week, too... time to get busy again!
augh! valentine's candy is out all over stores already! i guess it's only about a month away, but ugh. i like the idea of valentine's day, but it's gotten so overwrought with media hype and store-bought sugar-coating that i don't really like the actual implementation. shouldn't you be able to tell the people you love that you love them any day of the year, not just on one day in february? (maybe i'm just bitter. did i say that last year too?)
