holy crap! alexi lalas was named the new GM and president of the san jose earthquakes! personally i think it's a step in the right direction, seeing as all the talks about the mexican league takeover were starting to alienate true blue fans. i'm not sure what skills alexi has for running a team, but he's proof that the US soccer system does succeed. he was raised in the US system, and became a star in the US system, so this at least gives me hope that MLS commissioner garber isn't solely interested in deepening his pockets. (this may of course be too much of a positive outlook, considering, but one can hope. right?) i say, give alexi a chance. and give our boys in blue a chance to keep the title in san jose. yay quakes! i'm excited again.

since my promotion of in america, both samantha morton and djimon hounsou received academy award nominations for their roles. hey, at least i have good taste :)

choir officially started up again yesterday... arlene is joining this semester. yay! it doesn't look like there will be much in the way of solos this time around, so my debut last semester will have to collect dust until i have another opportunity. there are a number of new singers this semester, so jude may become enamored with one of them, anyway. we also currently only have two tenors, so if you know any tenors, we need 'em! in other (sort of) choir news, past choir member evan hadley is now a father...
