if you haven't seen in america, do. it's a heart-wrenching story about an immigrant irish family... and it hits you even when you don't expect it to. it's a story about the family's transition to life in america, and starting over in various ways. their lives are not especially unique, but the story is told with such raw emotion that you feel how real is it. samantha morton and paddy considine, who play the parents, are fighting for normalcy against the odds of low cash flow, past trauma, and few opportunities. the daughters, played by real-life sisters sarah and emma bolger, are amazing-- they exude positivity even in the face of obvious tribulation. djimon hounsou plays mateo, a crazy neighbor who somehow binds them together and helps them realize that they have the most important things-- life, love, and each other.

when did i become a movie reviewer? hmm...

i also bought two movies this weekend, a mighty wind and the bourne identity, both on dvd. yes, i still need to hook my dvd player up. but hey, blockbuster is having a pretty good sale... if you buy movies, you should check it out.
