zephyr won its first game, 3-0! woo hoo! we all played an excellent game, and i have a couple of new defenders that are really going to kick ass. that's reassuring to me, because last season we were pretty thin in the defense arena. (which is not to say we didn't do fine, since jessica, dikla, marcela, sonia, and i all work pretty hard.) les, our new coach, had us playing a 3-3-4 formation (four forwards), which was strange to play but it seemed to work pretty well. anyway, it was a great start to the season.

i also played with the love handles (the coed team) on sunday, and that was miserable. not only was i tired and sore from saturday's game, but i also remembered just why it is that i don't like playing on coed teams. the rules for the coed games say that you have to have at least three women on the field at all times. well, ximena and i were the only women, so we had to play a short side plus ximena and i couldn't sub out. even so, the boys totally played ball hog and wouldn't utilize either her or me as players. it was so frustrating. i wasn't having that great a game, but please. especially when you're short-sided, you need every player you have on the field. so why not use me? there were numerous times where i really was the only pass option, and they would instead choose to turn and try to fight through three players, most of the time losing the ball anyway. stupid. i'll probably go out once more and see if it's any better, and if it's not i'm not going to waste my time.

did you see that stanford men lost? kind of sad, since it was (i think) their last season game. oh well. and the stanford women won the pac-10 tourney vs. arizona. also, jeff garcia just signed a fairly lucrative four-year deal with the cleveland browns. looks like tim kawakami was quite intuitive in this regard. and terrell owens continues to be an ass, as he tries to assert that his trade to the ravens is not going to work out. poor baby wants to play for the eagles-- well, of course he would. i'd want to play with a qb like mcnabb, too! mcnabb would certainly make TO look good...

also, i finally introduced myself to the cute boy from the fifth floor who i see in the elevator quite often. his name is ben. :)
