holy god. as if the yankees needed any more highly-paid star power, they have now picked up a-rod. i think they need to be doomed to a lifetime of winless world series, because this whole stacking the cards thing really blows. what ever happened to sportsmanship and good competition? for those of us who hate the yankees (and believe me, that's most of us), what fun will it be to watch david try to slay goliath again and again? *sigh*
good weekend... went out with judy, maggie, and a couple of their friends on saturday night... we ended up at on the border in milpitas, after meeting up at judy's sister's huuuge house in berryessa. it was yummy! we all got big margaritas/pina coladas to start off the evening, and dinner was tasty too. lisa and gloria, who were also with us, were a fun addition to the group, and they will likely come out with us again next saturday when we head to q's. after dinner, we met up with some of gloria's friends (who were pretty boring, sadly) in downtown san jose. we went to the san jose bar and grill for a while, which was pretty full, but no one was really socializing. after a drink or two, we went down to blue tattoo... gloria tells us it's normally packed, but i guess valentine's just isn't a clubbing day! it was a cool club, and had decent music, so we'll probably go back there on a normal day. i dislike sizable cover charges though, so we'll see. interesting conversation all night, though... when you get a bunch of girls together... ;)
sunday i got a new phone! yay! i had to re-enter all my numbers, but that's life. i'm still trying to figure out all the features on the phone, but i really need to find a place to download new ringtones. the ringtones on my phone SUCK. and i didn't realize that siemens had so much less ringtone compatibility than nokia. guess that's why it was cheaper, huh? i also need to figure out how to easily access my phonebook, because right now i have to push about seven buttons before i can even get to a number! i hope it's not just a crappy phone...
no word from stanford. i followed up today to find out if they received my submission... i'm starting to get excited about that position, although i really need to be careful not to. i have no idea if my resume will even get looked at, so i can't start planning my life around it. it would sure be a nice change, though... especially after yet another meeting today confirmed my annoyance in all of the peonic motions i continually have to go through in my current job.
